Setting Leadership Goals

Don Marquis noted, "Ours is a world where people don't know what they want and are willing to go through hell to get it." What are your leadership goals? And, no, I don't mean "to be a leader." What specific goals will you have to meet to become a great leader? Learning to fail the right way? Effectively communicating across generations? Taking time to reflect and refresh? Integrating comfort and confidence in your leadership style? Mastering the "thank you"? Focusing attention on others? Protecting synergy? Motivating and affirming your employees? Giving criticism?

Take a few minutes to think about your leadership goals. Write down your goals. Find resources that will help you reach your goals (i.e. reading materials, seminars, executive coaches). Develop a plan of action that will require you to implement leadership attributes associated with your goals. And keep doing it until you can honestly say that you've met that goal.

Don't just become a leader. Become THE leader that you've always desired!
