I have the pleasure of working with men and women across the United States to enhance their leadership. These folks are leaders in their homes, their workplaces, and their communities. It's common for them to wonder aloud who they need to be in order to have the most positive influence on their followers. My answer is always simple - be you. To be a leader, you must start with who you are - your values, principles, ideals, desires, skills, and habits. You must be you. Granted, we want you to be the best you that you can be, so we throw in the mix proven tips, tools, and techniques, but we always start with you. Leadership development, done correctly, starts with your foundation because before leaders can be anything else, they must be genuine. When followers question whether a leader really is who he presents himself to be, there's already a mark against his leadership. You have to start with you because you will never be able to sustain a complete change in yourself, and why would you want to try? You have a solid foundation to lead, you just have to connect with it. And that's the most enjoyable part of my work - helping people find their strength and passion and voice for leadership.
Be yourself. Be a leader. Becky
