As I anticipate the arrival of fall next month and the opening of college football season, I am excited about the promise and hope of those new seasons. Fall promises respite from the hot, humid temperatures we have been experiencing, and the arrival of one West Virginia's most beautiful works of art - fall foliage. Similarly, the football season promises an opportunity to watch the West Virginia University Mountaineers, and offers hope for a wildly successful year.
We all enjoy new seasons in our work. Each week, month, quarter, and year hold promises and hopes for us. As leaders, it's our job to articulate those promises and hopes. To share them with our colleagues. To inspire our teams to hope for more, and work to achieve it. To encourage our teammates to enjoy the context - like the leaves or the excitement of a packed stadium - even on days that may be "rainy" or when a "hard-fought game" ends up being a loss.
What promises/hopes should you be sharing with your team?
